A rise more dramatic, more unstoppable than the Bank of England base rate. That’s what we had on our hands at the end of the season. They had already scooped up the Amsterdam Open, but in the end there was absolutely no stopping the rampaging DebLasso when it came down to a four-way chase for the ultimate prize of all.
Our bewildering Masters Final format will be different next year – that decision has already been sanctioned by FMS HQ. But with a stonking 22 points, there is no doubt of the team who mastered it. Fully six points clear of her three rivals, all sharing second place on the podium, the Lasso gang take home not one, but two cups* to crown a glittering first season.
*and I mean this quite literally, after testing out two styles of prize.
Commiserations to David R, Absolutely Fabregas and to the Pistols – all getting some consolation as members of the first ever FMS Hall of Fame roster. Each now marking themselves as ones to watch, as the top players in the game, as we enter season one. And speaking of which…
FMS Season One
Whisper it, but we’re already up and running. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes – tightening up the site, creating the sexiest forms in the Series’ short history. Our entire calendar for season one is up, the new ranking system is signed off (don’t worry Pistols, you’re still number 1 for now). And our kickoff tournament, the pre-season Freeze: Premier League, is already open for entries.
We’re not pushing it hard just yet – if nothing else, guessing how the league will finish is perhaps dangerous when absolute beasts like Kai Havertz are roaming the transfer window plains. But of course you’re welcome to take your shot if you wish. And you’re very, very welcome to invite others to sign up in coming weeks and months.
We’ll be back with an update in a little while, once we’re getting closer to the football action kicking off again. But for now, enjoy the break and get some rest before the all-encompassing wonder of the Football Masters Series returns once more.
